Scientific conferences and seminars

The International Laboratory for Population and Health organizes and co-organizes 6 international scientific conferences and scientific seminars to present and discuss new scientific results in the field of demography and related disciplines, as well as to develop further cooperation with leading world demographic centers.
 

Past conference

On November 12–13, 2025, the HSE University hosted the conference “The Second Demographic Readings in Memory of Anatoly Vishnevsky: The Theory of Demographic Transition and the Future of the Population of Russia and the World,” timed to coincide with the 90th birthday of the outstanding Russian demographer Anatoly Vishnevsky.
On November 8, 2024, the conference "Current Issues in Russian Demography" was held, organized by the International Laboratory for Population and Health Research.
The First Demographic Readings in memory of Anatoly Vishnevsky: “Demographic horizons of Russia and the world in the medium and long term prospective" were held on November 9-11, 2021.
On November 21-22, 2019 the International Laboratory for Population and Health together with the Institute of Demography held an international conference "Demographic trends in Russia: Legacy of the Soviet Era or a new tendency?"
On November 30 - December 01, 2017 the International Laboratory for Population and Health together with the Institute of Demography held an international conference “Demographic development of Russia in the global context: convergence or divergence?”

Past seminars

On December 15, 2022, the International Laboratory for Population and Health and Human Capital Multidisciplinary Research Center held the seminar “Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the dynamics of life expectancy".
On October 15, 2021, the International Laboratory for Population and Health of the Higher School of Economics (NRU HSE), together with colleagues from the Northern State Medical University (NSMU) and the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), held a seminar "Using eHealth data for informed decision-making and increased quality of health care in Russia”.
On September 20, 2019, the International Laboratory for Population and Health was held the scientific seminar "Quality of data on population and demographic processes in Russia"
