Seminar "IPUMS: Big, Integrated Microdata for Russia, Europe and the World"

The International Laboratory Population and Health of the HSE cordially invites you to the next session of the scientific seminar "Modern Demography," which will be held on June 27, 2017 at 17:00.  Our guest is Robert McCaa, Research Professor of Minnesota Population, an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Minnesota.Topic of the session is “IPUMS:  Big, Integrated Microdata for Russia, Europe and the World.”

Integrated Public Use Microdata Series (IPUMS) is the world's largest individual-level population database. IPUMS consists of microdata samples from United States (IPUMS-USA) and international (IPUMS-International) census records. IPUMS-USA contains data of all US-censuses from 1850 to 2000 except the 1890 census.  IPUMS-International includes data for 85 countries,  301 censuses,  672 million person records.

IPUMS data are provided free of charge to all researchers who request access to the database. The  Journal of American History  described IPUMS as "One of the great archival projects of the past two decades." Use an unique opportunity to learn about one of the most important demographic resources!
